Delete your account
How to delete your account in the ZAS: Explore the Universe app (Zimbabwe Astronomical Society), published by the Zimbabwean Astronomical Society, and what happens to your data.
In the app (fastest)
- Open the app and sign in.
- Tap the person icon at the top right to open Settings.
- Under Account, tap Delete my account, then Delete permanently.
Your account and data are deleted straight away. If you signed in more than a few minutes earlier, the app asks you to sign in again first; this protects your account.
ZAS editors and administrators must ask another administrator to remove their staff role before deleting their account.
Without the app
If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, send a request through the ZAS contact form:
- Subject: Delete my app account
- Email: the email address you use to sign in to the app, so we can find your account and reply to you
We will confirm the request with that email address and delete your account and data within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in account, name and email address
- Your lesson progress, quiz scores and certificates
- Your saved items and notification choices
- Everything you sent to ZAS, including photos, and any community posts made from it
What is kept
Nothing that you created. The only records kept are entries in the staff activity log, which apply only to ZAS editors and administrators and record actions they took in the admin tools (their account ID and the time). Copies left in our service provider’s systems (Google Firebase) are erased within its standard deletion periods, normally within about 30 days.
Settings kept only on your phone, such as your town and theme, are removed when you uninstall the app.
